MUSLIM BIN AUSIJA-E-ASADI

He is
the first one martyred on the day of Aashoora in the first attack He was
an old man from Koofa and was an ardent lover of Ahl-e-Bayt (A.S). He was
a companion of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and has narrated traditions from
him. He was a brave horseman and took part in the Islamic battles. He then
took part in the battles fought in the reign of Hazrat Ali (A.S). He asked
for pledge in favour of Imam Hussain (A.S) in Koofa. Hazrat Muslim (A.S)
in his movement appointed him as the leader of the people from the clan
of Mizhij and Asad. He had the duty of collecting money and arranging for
the weapons in the movement. With this knowledge, Ma'qil, a spy of Ibne
Ziad managed to know about the hideout of Muslim (A.S). In Kerbala, Muslim
was one of the faithful companions of Imam Hussain (A.S). When Imam (A.S)
allowed his companions to escape in the darkness of the night, Muslim was
one of those who stood up and reiterated their support for Imam Hussain
(A.S). Muslim bin Ausija said,' By God, if I'm killed, burnt and my ash
blown in air seventy times, I will not leave you. And its dying only once
and after that their are ever-lasting favours.' He recieted verses as he
went to the battlefield. Since the enemy could not manage to fight him
one to one, they started pelting him with stones. Muslim fall on the ground.
Imam Hussain (A.S) and Habib bin Muzahir came to him. Imam (A.S) prayed
for him. Muslim advised Habib not to leave Imam Hussain (A.S) alone.
